FAQs

Why can't I save changes I made to one of the Data Desk files shipped on the CD?

KeyDonor includes an integrated student version of Data Desk, which can save files with no more than 1,000 records. The student version can open and work with larger files, hence its ability to work with the larger files that are used as examples throughout the course. Note that we have saved different states of the file, and launch the appropriate state when it is needed throughout the course.

How do I launch the student version of Data Desk to work with my own data?

You can launch student Data Desk by clicking on the magnifying glass (the Data Desk icon on Mac) on the toolbar, or by launching the activity on page 1-6 titled "Launch Data Desk to work with your own data". Directions in the file that launches tell how to import of paste your data into Data Desk.

How do I move between the pages in the Lesson Book?

There are four methods for turning pages in KeyDonor.

Method 1:
Click on the right arrow button in the toolbar. Use the left arrow to move to the previous page. The double arrow buttons are used to move between chapters. KeyDonor has only one chapter so these buttons are not functional.

Method 2:
Choose the Next Page command from the View menu. Choose the Previous Page command to move backwards.

Method 3:
Open the Table of Contents tab and click on the page you wish to view.

Method 4:
When the page has been scrolled to the bottom the lower right corner of the page displays as a flipped page corner. Click on the corner and choose the Next Page command. Choose the Previous Page command to move backward.

Sometimes the activity goes to the next point before I have had a chance to digest what has just been taught. Can I control the pace of the instruction?

You can always stop an activity by pressing the space bar on your keyboard. Press the space bar again to resume the activity. You can also use the controls at the bottom of the activity to start stop, rewind, fast-forward, or, by pushing the thumb, move to any specific point in the activity. We hope you use these tools frequently because we believe that you'll get the most from this course if you stop the activity frequently to think about the concept being taught, and view the activity multiple times to get a solid understanding of the content.

When I quit KeyDonor I get a message asking me whether I want to save my Student File. What should I do?

KeyDonor includes a Student File saved on your CD so you don't need to save a new one. Just click the Don't Save button.
