Lesson Book

Home Base and Navigational Tool for Our Multimedia Products

The Lesson Book provides short introductions to activities, icons for launching activities, and access to other navigation tool, such as the index, glossary and table of contents.

It allows a sequencing of the topics without restricting free access to any part of the course.

  • Table of contents
  • Glossary
  • Bookmarks
  • Full index

Icons in the Control Bar at the top of the page are a way to move forward and backward in the Lesson Book, and they provide projects and exercises appropriate for the Lesson.

The Lesson Book introduces activities, sets a goal for each activity, and summarizes the activity when it is completed. Teaching takes place in the activities themselves, not by reading the Lesson Book. Activities do not begin until you click on their icons.

It tracks your progress, "checking off" activities as they are completed. Your progress is stored in a Student Progress File, which also stores your name and ActivEpi serial number.

Pages in the Lesson Book often have asterisks. Clicking on an asterisk opens a window with optional additional material. Often this material is an additional example or background material.

Each Lesson in ActivEpi offers a footnote at the end of the introductory paragraph providing references to the sections of popular textbooks that correspond to that Lesson. ActivEpi can be used with any text, but these references help to anchor it in common teaching practice.

Throughout ActivEpi each lesson has its own unique web page. These web pages reflect what is discussed in that particular lesson. ActivEpi supplies links to three types of sites: Data, Real World and Reference.
